Correspondence, essays, speeches, reports, studies, and memoranda from Grant's employment with Allen Manufacturing Company of Hartford, Connecticut, compositions and term papers written while he attended Harvard University, and personal papers including correspondence, minutes, reports and studies primarily representing his may civic activities outside of his regular employment. His civic activities included Hartford Community Chest, Crusade for Freedom, Renbrook School and Hartford Association for Retarded Children. Also includes two scripts to the movie Splinter Fleet, issued under the title Submarine Patrol in 1938 and directed by John Ford.

Born in Wethersfield, Connecticut in 1917, Grant spent his entire life in the state except for four years at Harvard University. From 1940-1958 he worked for Allen Manufacturing Company in Hartford and then for Connecticut Manifold Forms Co., which later merged with Allied Paper Co.
